Was bedeutet für dich Projekt?

Eine immer wieder einmalige Angelegenheit, bei der in der Regel vieles anders kommt als geplant.

Spannend sind dabei die menschlichen Interaktionen, die Projekten immer wieder unerwartete Wendungen geben können.

Ein einschneidendes Projekterlebnis?

Unvollständige Anforderungen, deren Unvollständigkeit erst spät entdeckt wurden, haben vor vielen Jahren in einem IT-Projekt dazu geführt, das der Aufwand nahezu verdoppelt werden musste. Was mich als Tester im Projekt sehr geärgert hat. Bei meiner Arbeit, fachliche Testkonzepte zu erstellen und sie mit der Fachabteilung zu prüfen, wurde klar, dass bei der Anforderunganalyse einfach nicht genau genug hingeschaut und zugehört wurde. Die Geburtstunde für mein Anliegen, IT-Projekten die Bedeutung kommunikativer Skills nahezubringen...

Was sind aus deiner Sicht typische Projektkiller und Fallstricke?

Da gibt es eine ganz Reihe. Die effektivsten sind:

• Das Vergessen und Verschweigen von Informationen und Wissen
• Verfolgen geheimer Ziele bei Projektbeteiligten
• Unterschiedliche Projektziel-Interpretationen der Beteiligten
• Das Übersehen von Zusammenhängen
• Zurückziehen auf technische Lösungen- Micromanagement bei Auftraggebern, die damit Kontrolle mit Steuerung verwechseln

Was sind Erfolgsfaktoren von Projekten

Erfolgfaktoren ergeben sich eigentlich aus dem Umkehrschluss aus Projektkillern.

Für mich am wichtigsten sind

• Zusammenhänge erkennen und immer wieder kommunizieren
• Zu Beginn Ziel und Zweck eines Projektes hartnäckig hinterfragen
• Klare Regeln für die Kommunikation, die von einem gemeinsamen Werteverständnis getragen werden
• Zuhören (und zwar alle!)

In welchem - auch historischen - Projekt hättest du gerne mitgearbeitet und in welcher Rolle?

Ich würde liebend gerne mal in Projekten mit kulturellem Hintergrund mitarbeiten (Musik, Theater, etc.), weil mich das Spannungsfeld zwischen Künstelerischem Arbeiten und strukturierten, klar organisiertem Arbeiten fasziniert.

Welches Zitat aus einem deiner Projekte ist die in Erinnerung geblieben und warum?

Nach einem Riesenmehraufwand im Projekt wegen unvollständigen Anforderungen die Frage an die Fachabteilung: Warum haben Sie das denn nicht gleich gesagt, wie wichtig das ist?" Antwort der Fachabteilung: "Sie haben ja nicht gefragt..."

Auf den WissensWert Blog Carnival hat mich Constance Stickler aufmerksam gemacht. Ich twittere als @projektlotse seit Februar 2009 – anfangs aus Neugierde, sehr schnell und mit wachsender Begeisterung weil es Spaß macht und einen schnellen und unkomplizierten Informationsaustausch ermöglicht.

Ab und zu blogge ich unter dem Motto „My Twitterverse“ interessante Tweets der vergangenen Woche. Vieles dabei bezieht sich auf die Themen, mit denen ich mich beruflich beschäftige – Projektmanagement in all seinen Facetten, Changemanagement und Facilitation.

Nebenbei ist es Twitter eine phantastische Möglichkeit, sich zu vernetzen – egal ob regional oder weltweit.

Aber wie funktioniert das ganz real? Ist es tatsächlich möglich, schnell und unkompliziert Informationen zu bekommen. Und sind die wirklich interessant und vor allem relevant?

Dazu ein aktuelles Beispiel, dass dies gut illustriert.

Ich saß an einer Präsentation zum Thema Entscheidungsfindung im Team. Für eine anstehende Projektphase wollte ich Hintergundmaterial zusammenstellen. Neben den mir bereits bekannten Quellen interessierte mich, was andere zum Thema empfehlen.

Projektmanagement-Geschichten: Bagdad Bahn

Gerade läuft auf ARTE ein Bericht über den Bau der Bagdad Bahn. Ich finde es ab und an recht interessant, Dokumentationen über Projekte zu sehen. Dieses Projekt war nicht nur infrastrukturell sondern auch politisch eine Herausforderung.

Der Bericht steht ab heute sieben Tage auf ARTE7 zum Abruf zur Verfügung.

Dilbert - The Blog

I don't know why, but everybody I know who works in projects, loves Dilbert. And Scott Adams seems to be everywhere at everytime. How else could you explain that he must have been near you in any hectic situation you survived in a project.

I guess that his blog is established to a lesser extend. And its worth a read if you love thoughts which are philosophical and fun. Take a look!

Scrum Day - München

I will participate on scrum day in Munich this year.

I use more and more methods from agile project management when working with teams and I am looking forward to this event. Ken Schwaber will hold the keynote and there will be a Q&A Session the evening before - if you have two days time, you may take an active part on an Open Space event. Find more info on this here.

When I started twittering, I was intrigued by the idea of projectmanagement in 140 characters and I still am.

Anyway a lot of projectmanagers are very active on twitter and for this reason twitter has become a great resource and a valuable opportunity for discussion on topics of projectmanagement, changemanagement, leadership and facilitation.

What projectmanagement is concerned, this resource gains worth when hashtags are used. See Ravens Blog explaining the use of hashtags on project management.
